Happy Birthday America

and what better way to celebrate than with a hot dog on the beach?
I can not remember a 4th of July where we didn't go to American Falls reservoir skiing. My family bought a boat in 1983, so I was 4 years old just like little Jane in this picture and ever since then we have spent either the 3rd, 4th, or 5th of July in American Falls. I have so many fond memories with cousins and friends playing on the beach, tubing, and skiing.
This 4th of July was extra special because Sam was baptised that afternoon. I gave a talk on the holy ghost and was able to share a really neat story about Sam and I when He asked me one night what it means to believe and how we felt as we talked about it.

Our family and Josh's parents

I asked Sam what he remembers most about his baptism and he said, "the feeling"

Later that night we went to Bryce and Danette's house for a BBQ and to light fireworks. This is my Grandma Thompson with Ethan and Sam explaining the sparklers. Sam asked every five minutes if it was time to light fireworks and since then has enjoyed lighting an entire pack of black cats by himself courtesy of Grandpa T.

Jane enjoying the sunshine at the BBQ. We caught the fireworks at Jensen's Grove from the backyard since they live right on the golf course and played a mean round of badminton. Note to self: read the warning on the fireworks before lighting a "magic crystal" under Bryce's covered patio and taking out a can light..."may shoot up to 50 feet in the air" would have been useful information. I love America. We are so lucky to live in this country and enjoy our families, our freedoms, and so many luxuries of life. The framers were truly inspired by God.
God Bless the U.S.A
