SuperHero Birthday Academy

We had a fun superhero themed party for Sam with different stations/games. I got a lot of ideas from the web and created some of my own. Here they are at the Lava Pit passing around a lava ball with a water balloon in it that randomly pops.
Sam with his loot at the magnificent minds table where they had to write down a guess to how much candy was in a jar. We also had a vaporize a villain station that I didn't get a picture of, but we had pictures of villains on balloons stuck in the grass and the kids vaporized them with silly string.

Here we are playing pass the present. I think Sam liked this part the best.

Sam's biggest smile of the day, opening the "bugs" present from Grandpa and Grandma Thompson that just happened to be a DS that he had been wanting since he was 5 (direct quote)

The "Mighty Muscles" station aka the spider man pinata. Josh had his superhero teacher skills out for this one to line them up according to age, etc.

and, Yes blowing out his candles...I piped the entire top of this cake and my arm was sore. Sam and I were decorating this baby at 5:30 am. because I had a wedding to go to and was worried about the details. After a couple rounds of Freeze tag where I played Mr. Freeze and then a riddle/treasure hunt that the joker had planned, the kids found their kryptonite (glow sticks) and then I had 30 people over (Thompson/Sorensen fams) for a BBQ--can you say overload? I have no one but myself to blame!
