Sand Timers and the Sand Man

So, yesterday the Super Tooth visited Syd's school and handed out sand timers. She was very distraught because she couldn't find her new sand timer last night when going to bed. So this morning after getting a text from Brittany that it was in the living room, I went down to wake the BEAST (yes she gets this trait from me and I got it from my mother)! My grandpa Reader used to take the end of a broom and poke my mother from afar because he was afraid of the wrath. My dad was not afraid of me although I was equally horrific. He would come in singing the red red robin, beechnut's fruit stripe gum, or humming there is a place in France and steal my covers (even though I gripped them as tight as possible), pour water on my head, or if I was really lucky put fresh snow down my shirt. Oh how I do NOT miss that man in the morning! Anywho, I went to wake up Sydney very carefully and placed the sand timer in her hand, hoping for some good will. As I was getting something for her to wear to school, I noticed she was moving around and making strange hand gestures. Upon further investigation, I realized that she was saying"Thank you, Thank you very much" in sign language! What my dad could have learned from my waking up skills!

Okay so what is a Sand timer? I think I could use something to make me happy in the morning.

Oh buddy! I remember the polar bear waking us up. YIKES!! I wish Tyler had a sand timer so he would brush his teeth longer so I didn't have to be the teeth brushing sheriff! BTW your kids are adorable!

You know the mini hour glass timers that you flip and watch the sand fall down...think "these are the days of our lives" or board games...
